Abstract

This research project aims to improve the quality of raster-to-vector conversion, which converts raster data such as images into vector data for efficient geometric editing and analysis. In particular, when converting closely contacting objects, intersections between objects are inevitable, and automatic conversion methods that maintain both physical independence and geometric consistency have not been sufficiently investigated. The objective of this study is to achieve raster-to-vector conversion from volumetric data with tightly contacting materials into non-intersecting mesh data. By extending our self-developed non-intersection constraints and formulating the conversion process as a constrained optimization problem, we build a versatile conversion framework applicable to various shapes.
